About Leadership, Training, and Education

Our Leadership, Training, and Education Committee provides a variety of training opportunities both for leaders and members to improve (or refresh) their skills!  Programming on an annual basis includes Leadership Training, Map and Compass, and Solo’s Wilderness First Aid!  Other training occurs specific to our Committees like Rolling Clinics for Sea Kayakers, Introduction to Rock Climbing for our Rock Climbing Group, Sawyer or Swamper Training for our Trails Committee, etc.  Have a suggestion?  Email our Committee Chair!

SOLO Basic Wilderness First Aid Classes

SOLO Basic Wilderness First Aid: Red Cross first aid training is certainly helpful, but when you are in a backwoods situation, you need more. This course will provide the knowledge you will need to deal with medical emergencies when you are more than one hour from medical care. In addition to patient assessment, this course will teach you how to treat immediate life threats, disabling injuries, hypothermia and other environmental hazards, fractures, sprains and more. Optional CPR instruction will also be available. The course is taught by the outstanding instructors from Stonehearth Outdoor Learning Opportunities (SOLO).

The Narragansett Chapter offers two trainings per year and certification lasts two years!  Click below to see upcoming training or check-out other offerings of Wilderness First Aid from neighboring chapters!
