2024 Leadership Training Workshop
At: Wood Pawcatuck Watershed Association, 203 Arcadia Road, Hope Valley, RI
Purpose: Upon completion, participants are qualified to be a leader-in-training alongside an experienced leader or mentor for Hiking/Backpacking, Local Walks and Hikes, biking, skiing, 20s & 30s, Forty Plus, Family Outings, Paddling, Mountaineering, Windsurfing, and Mountains and Music.

8:30 AM Welcome and Introductions – Catherine LiVolsi – Chapter Chair & Lisa Schott- AMC
- The need for DEI and what should be built into all AMC activities
9:00 AM Activity Planning – Catherine LiVolsi
- Do you notice gaps in Chapter offerings to help people become interested?
- How do we draw more people to our training and events?
10:00 AM Participant Evaluation – Bob Sirhal
- Ensuring our language is current and leaves older nomenclature behind.
- Are we welcoming and inclusive in our write-ups for events?

11:00 AM Risk Management & Leader Liability – Lisa Schott
- AMC’s Leadership Requirements and Guidelines
Noon Lunch (sandwiches) is provided
12:30 PM People Skills including group dynamics & Interpersonal Communication- Catherine
1:30 PM AMC Emergency Action Plan and Accident Scene Management- Bob
2:30 PM Leave No Trace, Sustainability & Conservation – Bob
3:00 PM Break
3:10 PM Conclusion and overview of the next steps in leadership and evaluation
4:00 PM Departure
Fee: $15, if there is a financial hardship issue, please let Bob know. The week before the training day, you will receive an e-mail asking for your sandwich preference.
