Chapter Communications Chair Description

The Chapter Communications Chair is a central leader responsible for managing the Communications Committee and its subcommittees, overseeing all chapter communications across AMC media, and maintaining the chapter website and newsletter. This role also includes coordinating trip listings, supporting communications technology and training, managing related budgets and equipment, and serving as the liaison to the Chapter Executive Board to ensure effective and consistent communication strategy.

Responsibilities of the Chair:

  1. Be responsible for organizing a committee to assist in carrying out the duties of the Communication Chair.
  2. Be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of any/all Communication Sub-Committees.
  3. Publish trip descriptions, special notices, editorials, and articles by and for the Narragansett Chapter in the appropriate AMC media.
  4. Manage and maintain the Chapter website.
  5. Publish the Chapter newsletter.
  6. Coordinate publication of Chapter activities in the AMC Trip Listing Database.
  7. Provide assistance and training to Website and AMC Trip Listing Database users.
  8. Act as liaison between the Chapter Executive Board and any/all Communications Sub-Committees on Chapter related business.
  9. Budget for Communication Committee anticipated expenses and purchase appropriate supplies and computer-related equipment including:
    1. Printing and postage for the Chapter newsletter.
    2. Hardware, software, and supplies for computer related equipment.
  10. Account for maintenance requirements of computer-related equipment.
  11. Oversee the establishment and maintenance of committee policy with the advice and consent of the Executive Board.

Responsibility for specific details of these tasks may be delegated to sub-chairs. The Communications Chair is also responsible for duties as outlined in Article II, Section 3.0, and Article IV, Section 7.0, of these Standing Rules.
